Laura is an Episcopal priest; she served churches in Alaska and Mississippi before being called to campus ministry in Harrisonburg. All aspects of ministry bring her joy, and campus ministry is her passion. She is married to Russell, a Coast Guard veteran. They have 3 sons who are in college and high school. She enjoys gardening, baking and road trips.
Alyssa DiPalermo (she/her)
Alyssa is a junior psychology major with minors in disability studies and sociology. She loves the life-long friends she’s made at Canterbury as well as the home away from home it provides her! Outside of Canterbury, Alyssa is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Psi Chi, and the Marching Royal Dukes. Alyssa loves to spend time at the ocean, kayaking with her family or at the mountains, skiing with her friends!
Rebecca Shannon (she/her)
Rebecca is a Sophomore Psychology major with minors in nonprofit studies and family studies with a family ecology focus. She loves the loving and encouraging atmosphere and inclusivity at Canterbury. When she is not at Canterbury or studying at Carrier library, she can be found working with her residents as a Resident Advisor, working out at UREC, or watching a good Disney movie.
Trinity Obaugh (she/her)
Trinity is a Sophomore Nursing major with a minor in Human Resource Development from Staunton, Virginia. She loves the warmth and fellowship found at Canterbury and looks forward to attending service every Sunday. In her free time, Trinity enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies.
Mary Bennett (she/her)
Mary is a Sophomore Economics major. She loves Canterbury because it is a community based on loving one another. Outside of Canterbury, Mary can be found snuggling up on the couch watching Netflix with her adorable pets.
Allison Gannon (she/her)
Allison is a sophomore nursing major and absolutely loves it so far. One thing she absolutely loves about Canterbury is how welcoming it is. When she was a freshman, she felt like she was missing something and says "In finding Canterbury, that hole was filled immediately!" On her first day she felt right at home and like one of the group. Outside of Canterbury, Allison likes to collage and go watch the sunsets. She says, "there is something about a beautiful sunset over the mountains fills my heart".
Christine Truxell (she/her)
Christine is a freshman double major with Graphic Design and Studio Art. She loves Canterbury for the people and community that we have created here. Outside of Canterbury, Christine is apart of the JMU Marching Royal Dukes Colorguard and the JMU Nuance colorguard.
Lynn Ashmore (she/her)
Lynn is a sophomore Political Science major with a minor in public policy and administration. She loves how calm Canterbury is and says you can always find peace there. Lynn is also a part of the Marching Royal Dukes and the JMU pep band.
Nate Hazen (he/him)
Nate is a class of 2024 student at JMU with a major in businesses management and is planning to minor in sports and rec management. His favorite part about Canterbury is the openness and inclusiveness of it. In his free time, Nate likes to workout, play Xbox and participate in student government.
